Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation seeks efficient solutions to mitigating global warming

Global warming must be limited to 1.5 degrees Celsius, and this pace must be reached as soon as possible. In the coming call for grant applications, Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation will continue to support projects focusing on climate change mitigation, now with an emphasis on the urgency of the actions taken.

Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation supports both scientific research and other projects that benefit the society and environment. The Foundation grants funding mainly through its annual application period. In 2019 the theme of the application period is Urgent Action on Climate Change. The call for applications will be open January 15-31, 2019. Application guidelines will be published on the Foundation’s website in the beginning of December.

Through its January 2019 call for grant applications Tiina and Antti Herlin Foundation hopes to identify projects leading to results directly addressing climate change and its urgent mitigation. Unlike in previous years, grants will now be allocated only to projects directly relating to climate change mitigation. The criteria will emphasize solution-oriented approaches and scalability, as well as environmental impact which is hoped to be as big as possible and ideally realized within the next 15 years.

Effective climate change mitigation calls for active participation and transformation on every level of society. The Foundation expects the applications received to represent a systemic approach, through which the phenomenon of climate change is approached as a complex entity and, in addition to its individual parts, consideration is given to the processes and interaction between them.
